Latex is a transformative medium for self-reflection, sensual bodily experience and liberation from social taboos. Rather than traditional dogmas, the focus is on one’s own journey of selfdiscovery. Mindful care rituals preserve the condition of the material and foster a deep connection with its owners.

Why is there still no church dedicated to the worship of our favourite material? The simplest answer is: because I haven’t founded one yet. But why not? Who, for example, should be the god of latex? What commandments should the followers of this church observe, and what sacraments does it have to offer? Let’s work through this short list.

Who should fulfil the role of God within a latex centred religion? You… Me… Us. The patriarchal societies, ideologies and religions we are familiar with have done their utmost to suppress young individuals’ self actualisation from an early age and in an extremely lasting way. This works very effectively, for example, through the instilling of feelings of shame and guilt in the human mind and in the collective consciousness. Anyone brought up to believe that, for the salvation of their soul, they must pray to an imperceptible entity or adhere to the ideologically constructed symbol of a leader loses focus on actual self-experience and selfreflection. Compared to traditional religions, we have no need for gods, let alone ones associated with a vague notion of duality. What we incorporate spiritually into our everyday lives is much more akin to a shamanic practice for exploring our own selves and the world around us.

The Sacrament

Since ancient times, people have shared a fascination with gleaming materials such as precious metals, rare minerals or fine, flowing fabrics. Yet none of these things can convey the mystery of a unique sensory experience for both body and mind: the visual allure of a partner clad in latex and the transformation of bare skin into a spiritual rediscovery of one’s own physicality. When clad in latex, our selfperception merges with a material that elevates our senses beyond the realities we have known until now, whilst at the same time allowing us to explore the depths of our inner landscape.

Latex Principles

Anyone who has ever been enchanted by the beguiling scent and the comforting suppleness of latex has entered a new realm of sensuality. To experience this sensation time and again, certain rituals must be carried out with mindful devotion, for latex requires proper care. A sufficient supply of silicone oil, to aid in putting it on and for maintenance, is essential. After use, the material must be washed immediately by hand with an odourless dish soap and then oiled or powdered. It should be dried and stored on plastic hangers in a dark, dry place at a moderate temperature; it must never be folded and placed in a laundry compartment or a cupboard. Latex becomes brittle in areas where it has been stored creased for a long time. Please note that latex is incompatible with various metals, varnishes, plastics and paints. Tobacco smoke also causes lasting damage to the surface.

My ceremonies

There are many beautiful colour variations in which latex can be crafted, yet my preference will always lie with the transcendence of black latex. Like a mirror of obsidian, it serves as my companion on the paths of inner alchemy and opens the gateway to another world. When combined with silicone oil, it envelops my lovingly cared for body with darkness woven into matter, bringing to light the radiance hidden deep within the human being. Like a warm embrace and, at the same time, like a suit of armour, the latex wraps itself around me. It gives me a sense of security and the strength to act as a priestess of its dark realm, whether in secret or during the initiation of mystical rituals with my playmates. The beauty of these rituals lies in the interplay of a thirst for discovery, unbridled lust, beguiling tension and the breaking of patriarchal norms that hinder the human spirit’s own development.
